Commercial Building Initiative Workshop: December 10, 2007
Inaugural Planning Event
The December 10th inaugural Commercial Buildings Initiative workshop was held at the Washington DC Convention center, and was attended by approximately 100 participants. Partner organizations DOE, AIA and ASHRAE sponsored the event. This workshop was intended to introduce the Initiative, to provide a sector-specific forum to define pathways to zero-energy buildings, and to initiate consortium building for membership in CBI. Workshop activities included the following:
- An overview of CBI, including interaction with the founding organizations and the people involved.
- Perspectives from CBI founders including AIA, ASHRAE, USGBC, WBCSD, ASE, and DOE
- Sector-specific breakout groups for national retail, commercial office, and government/institutional to identify:
- Technology, policy, and market opportunities to realize zero-energy buildings
- Barriers, solutions, and priority actions to realize zero-energy buildings
