Workshop on Net Zero Energy High Performance Green Buildings

The National Science and Technology Council (NSTC), through its Subcommittee on Buildings Technology Research and Development (BTRD), is responsible for Federal R&D priorities planning for the building technologies of tomorrow. To support public and private sector input into this planning process, BTRD is hosting a 1½ day workshop on net zero energy, high performance green building technologies.

Scope and Purpose of the Workshop: Exploring R&D needs for future building technologies to

  • Improve energy efficiency and advance automated control of commercial and residential buildings
  • Identify additional end use applications of renewable energy
  • Promote energy, water, and material conservation
  • Boost indoor environmental quality
  • Develop performance measurement and metrics

During the Workshop, diverse representatives from government, academia, and the private sector will have the opportunity to review and provide input into key recommendations to the draft report Federal R&D Priorities for Net Zero Energy, High Performance Green Buildings as well as related high priority federally funded R&D activities in buildings technology.  In addition, participants will discuss strategies for ongoing and expanded collaboration among all stakeholders.

Participants will be accepted on a first-come, first-served basis.  Upon receipt of your registration, you will be contacted with important instructions for gaining access to the Department of Energy Forrestal Building, at which time you will be required to provide additional security information to ensure that you are cleared in advance of your arrival.
